Medical device innovation is in an exciting, demanding, and challenging time with diverse field and fast growing and expanding clinical needs.  New medical devices ranges from implants (permanent, bioabsorable, drug combination, sensing, and etc), imaging and detection equipment, surgical instruments, prosthetics – to name a few.  A quick review of innovation process, anatomy of success, and several unmet clinical needs including mitral valve repair will be reviewed.
