ABSTRACT

The Internet of Things has enabled tremendous growth and innovation in the healthcare industry  with new connected devices and systems to improve patient outcomes. Unfortunately, cybercrime is becoming an increasing threat in the use of ‘connected’ medical devices and the security of patient data.

As devices become more integrated with healthcare systems, cybersecurity challenges are no longer confined to the device itself. Connectivity requirements and overall device/system complexity force device designers to address security challenges holistically and work together with healthcare providers and others to effectively mitigate cybersecurity vulnerability.
Doug Halperin of Sunrise Labs will outline the major cybersecurity challenges facing medical device designers and manufacturers, how to approach an assessment of the threat landscape, and some of the resources available to help address these threats including regulatory agencies, technologies, and other organizations.
