Matthew Leineweber is an Assistant Professor in the Biomedical Engineering Department at SJSU. He joined the faculty in Fall 2017, after finishing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, with an emphasis in Biomechanical Engineering, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Portland.  Dr. Leineweber’s research focuses primarily on evaluating human motion biomechanics, medical device design, rehabilitation engineering, medical imaging, and soft tissue mechanics. His work has examined topics ranging from the design optimization of a novel knee prosthesis for lower-limb amputees, to the use of ultrasound techniques for analyzing skeletal muscle injury.
