William Mavity

William G. “Bill” Mavity is an experienced medical technology leader, who has served as the chief executive of: a subsidiary of a Fortune 50 company (3M Company); two publicly traded companies (NASDAQ: InnerDyne Medical and Cohesion Technologies) that were acquired by larger entities; and five private companies, over a 28 year span.  He has worked in the medical technology arena for more than 35 years.


These companies were involved with technologies and products for cardiac surgery support; treatments for heart failure; advanced biomaterials used to control bleeding during surgical procedures; biomaterials to improve outcomes in orthopedic surgery procedures; enhanced access devices for laparoscopic surgery; treatment of atrial fibrillation; neuromodulation to treat chronic pain, and the treatment of chronic sinusitis.

Board positions included companies developing treatments for sleep apnea, peripheral vascular disease, and obesity, in addition to the above.


Mr. Mavity holds a Bachelor of Engineering Administration degree from the University of Delaware (1972), and did graduate study in Business Administration at Rider College and Furman University.  He also served as an officer in the U. S. Army Reserve, Corps of Engineers, from 1973 until 1983.


Mr. Mavity is currently a member of the Boards of Arrinex and ReThink Medical, is an advisor to ReThink Medical, Sinopsys Surgical, Micro-Leads Inc., and serves on the Medical Advisory Council of FLEX Health Solutions.  He was previously an independent Director of Hotspur Technologies, USGI Medical, Cardeon Corp., AMed Sytems, Aspire Medical, Fidus Medical Technologies, NeuColl, Inc. and the Michigan Technology Council. He also served on the Advisory Council for the College of Engineering at the University of Delaware for 12 years.
