This presentation will discuss the promise of next generation clinical diagnostic devices. In the era of smart sensors, approaches to biomedical engineering design provides new ways to dynamically probe, monitor and treat human pathophysiology. The presentation will cite selected examples from emerging clinical diagnostic devices that integrate smart-sensors. We will also discuss how integrating sensing elements and sensor control circuits have enabled access to the finest and most comprehensive diagnostic information. Finally we will touch on the future of system and network level integration of smart medical devices and how it impacts healthcare globally.
