ABSTRACT

The prosthetics profession is often glamorized by the media & science fiction, but what is the real state of clinical practice? Does the technology that glosses the covers of magazines actually work, and does it make it onto the bodies of real patients? We will explore where the line is between science fiction and reality. We will examine the current state of clinical practice and the technologies applied to average patients. We will peer into the future of real technologies that are breaking their way into clinical practice around the world, and technologies currently under the FDA approval process and soon to be in the United States.
