Alessandro Bellofiore, Ph.D.
Alessandro Bellofiore is an Assistant Professor in the Biomedical Engineering program at SJSU. Dr. Bellofiore received his M.S and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Università Federico II di Napoli, Italy, in 2006. Before joining San Jose State University in Fall 2014, he was a Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2011-2014) and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National University of Ireland, Galway (2008-2011). Dr. Bellofiore’s research gravitates around experimental fluid mechanics, hemodynamics, flow imaging, cardiovascular mechanics and devices. His current focus is on investigating flow-induced blood cell damage by mechanical heart valves, hemocompatibility of coronary stents, wearable heart rate monitors, and a novel portable kidney disease monitor. He is passionate about photography and Scandinavian melodic death metal.
