Stretchers are used to transport patients to the hospitals by EMTs, however, sometimes the brakes do not lock the wheels which makes it difficult to stop and that leads to injuries. The goal of our project is to improve the brakes of the gurney by adding a hydraulic dampening type device that can allow for a slower less chaotic drop in case of hydraulic failure. This device will be able to stop over 300 lbs of weight when moving and it can be attached to any gurney, this way emergency service professionals do not need to buy a new gurney.
