Michael L. Reo is a 30-year veteran of the medical device industry. Currently, Michael is the Principal of M. L. Reo Consulting LLC, providing engineering and management consulting services for start-ups to established medical device manufacturers. Michael was an engineer and leader in medical device companies such as Peripheral Systems Group, Ventritex, Kyphon, Ventrica, Spinal Kinetics, HourGlass Technologies, Heart Repair Technologies, and Sinopsys Surgical. He has held executive positions such as Vice President of Operations and R&D, Chief Technical Officer, and served as CEO of Sinopsys Surgical prior to reengaging a full-time consulting business. He is

also a named inventor on 69 issued US Patents and over 100 US patent applications. In addition, Michael serves as an Industry Advisor for Biomedical Engineering Department and Biomedical Engineering Society Chapter at San José State University where he also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Physics.

Abstract: Anthropometric data as a Medical Device Design Input

 
For design input, anthropometric data ideally drives medical device sizing. Because human anatomy varies, the basis for medical device sizing should be data driven and anthropometry provides an unbiased source of dimensional information.
