Novel Introducer Sheath for Catheters

The transcatheter procedure system is typically composed of a catheter, introducer sheath,
guidewire, dilator, and needle. The introducer sheath protects the blood vessel against the friction caused by catheters. In this study, we aim to design a novel introducer sheath that would provide far better protection than the traditional introducer sheaths while being less invasive. The scope of the project involves designing, manufacturing, and testing the novel introducer sheath. Performance tests such as buckling, torsion, kinking and bending, among others, will be performed on manufactured prototypes to evaluate the effectiveness of the design.
